Scientific co-operation project Austria-Czech Republic 2017 - 2018
Dirac and magnetic Schrödinger operators with singular interactions

The project CZ 02/2017 is a cooperation of the institute of applied mathematics of the TU Graz and the Nuclear Physics Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. It is funded by the Austrian Agency for International Cooperation in Education and Research (OeAD-GmbH) and the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic.

Motivation and project description

Partial differential operators with δ-interactions are often used as idealized models to study approximately differential operators with strongly localized coefficients - an idea which was successfully applied to Schrödinger operators with electric, but without magnetic fields. This approach will be used for the investigation of Dirac operators, that describe the motion of a charged particle in relativistic quantum mechanics taking spin into account, and Schrödinger operators with an additional homogeneous magnetic field.
Project goals
  • Investigation of Dirac operators with electric δ-interactions supported on surfaces
  • Analysis of magnetic Schrödinger operators with electric δ-interactions supported on curves
